Everything we desire Hanna and Hannele chose the 8th of March to be their wedding day, since it was the 7th anniversary of their engagement. It was a historical day in another sense, too, as it was the first day that same-sex couples could have their partnerships recognized similarly to marriage. The wedding of Hanna and Hannele took place at the Winter Garden in Helsinki with their friends and the closest relatives present. The ceremony was held on the terrace above the the central hall. Their sons, Nuutti Lehtikuusi and Okko Räty were the bridal boys and enjoyed thoroughly both the ceremony and the feast afterwards. Afterwards, a reception was arranged in the left-side hall at the Winter Garden. Hanna's aunt and mother made speeches to toast to Hanna and Hannele after which the bridal couple cut the wedding cake. After the reception the bridal couple paraded around the city in a car with a sign "Just Recognized". After the tour, they joined the wedding guests at an informal dinner. At the end of the evening the bridal couple threw their corsages to the crowd of guests - and are now eagerly waiting for invitations to resulting weddings... The next day, the maids of honour orchestrated a kidnapping to help Hannele take Hanna for a 24-hour honeymoon at the Haikko Manor east of Helsinki (click Haikko Movie). The couple enjoyed there an athmosphere of the beginning of the last century with champagne, massage, baths and a very romantic dinner by candlelight. The honeymoon was continued a week later with a visit to the National Opera to enjoy the opening night of Rossini's Cenerentola.
Music at the ceremony: Wedding March by Mendelsohn, Wedding waltz of Akseli and
Elina by Heikki Aaltoila. Special thanks to all wedding guests for a memorable day! We owe great thanks to all those people who helped to make everything go smoothly throughout the day! |
