Vihreät – De Gröna

- 0-vaihtoehto on tarkasteltava samoin kriteerein kuin ydinvoiman lisäämisvaihtoehdot

Ydinvoimapäätös on ydinenergialain mukaan tehtävä yhteiskunnan kokonaisedun näkökulmasta. Vihreät haluavat, että yhteiskunnan kokonaisetua arvioidaan riittävän laajasti: ydinvoiman lisärakentamisen vaikutuksista on laadittava riippumaton arvio ennen hallituksen periaatepäätöstä.

Vihreiden mielestä yhdenkin uuden ydinvoimaluvan antaminen olisi kotimaisten työpaikkojen luomisen ja turvaamisen näkökulmasta virhevalinta. Uusiutuvan energian kotimarkkinoiden kehittäminen olisi huomattavasti työllistävämpää politiikkaa. Ydinvoiman vaihtoehtojen markkinat kehittyvät kovaa vauhtia:

- Ydinvoiman lisärakentamisesta seuraisi, että riittävän tiukat toimet uusiutuvien energialähteiden käytön lisäämiseksi laiminlyödään. Ydinvoimakeskeinen kokonaisratkaisu johtaisi lopulta siihen, että menettäisimme kymmeniä tuhansia energiatehokkuuteen ja uusiutuvaan energiaan perustuvia työpaikkoja, jotka olisi mahdollista luoda jo ensi vuosikymmenellä, Vihreän eduskuntaryhmän puheenjohtaja Ville Niinistö sanoi Vihreän eduskuntaryhmän ja Greenpeacen järjestämässä Ydinsähkön hinta -tilaisuudessa.

Two years of arduous UN negotiations to produce a binding global climate deal ended in failure today, after a vague and meaningless political declaration that had been agreed between a small group of global heads of states was consigned to a footnote in the final vote by plenary in Copenhagen. Commenting on the outcome of the COP15, Greens/EFA co-president Rebecca Harms said:

"The world's leaders have failed the planet and failed the people. It is a sad day for global climate action.

"It is imperative that those states and leaders who were responsible for the calamitous outcome in Copenhagen now clean up the mess they have created for global climate efforts. Efforts must be redoubled to ensure a sufficient outcome can be achieved by next year's COP16 in Mexico in order to limit the increase in global temperatures to below 2C.

The Co-Spokespersons of the European Green Party, Monica Frassoni and Philippe Lamberts , have expressed their bitter disappointment at the failure of the COP 15 climate talks in negotiations to live up to the world's expectations, which had already been drastically curtailed in the past few days. However, the EGP Spokespersons have also said that the European Greens will contribute to the building of an alliance to ensure that the binding commitments necessary to combat climate change are delivered in 2010.
